It was the beginning of a new year, and I was getting ready to finally start working. Last year, I had cut off a dying branch of a rose in my garden to prepare it for winter and was hanging the buds on it in my study to make dried flowers. Today, I looked up and noticed that the bud had swelled up and was even pointing upward toward the sun shining through the sunroof.
I hurriedly put it in a vase of water and wished it good luck. The main portion of roses are now quietly waiting for spring in the snow. And I was moved by the vitality of these pruned portion that were about to be thrown away. In English, it is resilience. It is a power given to all of nature. People should be no exception. I believe that the power of love is the heart that encourages such resilience. I have come home to the importance of such small action of preparing vase.
